The draft charters for broad-based black economic empowerment (BEE) in construction and forestry sector were gazetted on Friday for public comment.

Comments and inputs on the draft charters may be submitted by February 5.

In the absence of any fundamental deviations and concerns, the draft construction and forestry sector charters will be gazetted as final sector codes in March.

The charters seek to drive transformation in these industries and ensure meaningful participation of black people in the mainstream economy.
